About Our Tape Evaluation Service

nvtdigital inc and IVB Media Services have joined together to bring our customers the most superior tape evaluation service possible. Our services have been available since 2” quad videotape was the industry standard. As new formats have evolved,we have adapted with the birth of each format.  We currently process over eleven different types of tape.

What makes our service and products better than the competition is our attention to detail and more importantly 25 years of experience.  We know that just because tape evaluates well, it isn't necessarily a good tape.  There are many more factors such as age, cosmetic appearance, it's previous recording history, and storage conditions that need to be taken into consideration.

When you purchase evaluated tape from us, no matter what format, you are guaranteed that it will look and perform like a new tape.  That's right, you will not get a tape that is years old with multiple passes that is resold just because the evaluator gave it a good report.

We only use RTI evaluation equipment and Garner Industries degaussers. RTI has been known for over 25 years as the leader in videotape cleaning/evaluation equipment. We have more RTI evaluation machines than any of our competitors in the country, which makes us extremely efficient. We can currently process over 5000 tapes per day.

What really sets us apart is our attention to detail. We not only maintain and use the most current equipment available today but have a QC process that goes beyond machine evaluation and degaussing.

What you get when you buy or process evaluated tape with us:

We begin by separating every tape by brand, length, format and even age when possible.

Each tape is evaluated in its proper evaluator. We currently have RTI 4100/4100DLS- for Beta SP, Digital Beta, Beta cam SX, IMX, HD Cam and HDCAM SR. For DVC Pro, DVCAM, Mini DV and DV we have RTI 5100 evaluators. For ¾” we use RTI 3100 machines, and we can even still evaluate 1” tape using the RTI 6320 machines. Once these tapes are evaluated they are then degaussed using a Garner 400FS degausser. Not only are the tapes erased through the RTI machines, but they are also degaussed multiple times on Garner degaussers, which are the strongest available today.

All of our evaluation equipment is located in a clean room environment. Since these machines only work by running every inch of a tape though blades and tissues and exposing them to the environment, this must be done in only the cleanest dust free space possible. Any dust or dirt, even after evaluation can cause dropouts or head clogging.

PRICING

We price our evaluated tape / evaluation service lower than just about anyone in our industry, as we have such a high daily output. Unlike our competition, we do not increase evaluation pricing just because a tape costs more. For example, since the same equipment is used on virtually every format we do not find it necessary to charge more for a HDCAM SR* than we would for a Betacam SP of the same length.

*Soft rewind of HDCAM SR is available for a small fee.
